Kate Philpis based in Berwickshire. She graduated from university with a degree in Biological science, then travelled extensively throughout Europe, America and the southern hemisphere before turning her attention to her creative side.
Philp’s interest in nature and the human form is apparent in her work. Her work is varied in subject matter.
Much of Kate’s inspiration is drawn from the Berwickshire coastline where she spends much of her time. Although, Speyside is a favourite area, as this is where she spent many childhood holidays.
Working in both acrylic and watercolour allows for the use of a strong palette or a more subtle treatment of the subject matter both in her usual lively and spontaneous style.
