Tactile and Beautiful

I was given this beautiful book. I put it somewhere safe, hence I have now only re-discovered it ! Made by the very talented Annie – wife of artist John Bathgate, these hand-made books are available from Dun Studio on the Isle of Skye. I love the effects, the combination of fabric, paper and colour, the whole cover changes in the daylight. It’s got that Peacock iridescent shimmer effect. My next dilemma is how to fill the pages.

Scottish Elm Solid Wood Notebook Journals

Just in, beautiful solid wood Scottish Elm notebook journals by Julie Durkacz. The wood has a lovely grain and colour enhanced by finishing with Danish oil and beeswax polish.

The books are Coptic bound.  The open-spine shows the threading and stitching. The exposed stitching is an essential element of the design of the book, this type of open-spine binding and stitching is often used for artists books, since it allows a 360-degree display of the book.

The inner pages are made from 200gsm recycled paper.

We have two sizes of notebook journal available. A5 – 148.5mm x 210mm approximately and A6 – 105mm x 148.5mm approximately.
